Annual Report 2008

Kerry and I have now been given our warrants, so we have officially taken over the running of the Beaver Colony.

The Beavers have had a busy year so far we have invested 12 new Beavers and said goodbye to 7, who have gone up to cubs. The badges we have covered this year have been Faith, Animal Friend, Safety and Experiment. We are now covering Health and Fitness and Healthy Eating.

We have took part in the St George's Day parade on 13 April and also our Beavers came 3rd when they took part in Beavers sports day on 17 May.

We have had frequent walks around Laxey village, discovering where we live. We have been on visits to Laxey Fire Station and Douglas Ambulance station we had PC Reed come to our meeting just before TT to talk about safety about the island during TT fortnight and safety when down on the beach. A few of our Beavers along with Kerry, Julie and I went to the Chinese State Circus when it was over in February. We have been tie dying t-shirts and making volcanoes as part of the Experiment badge, we walked from the Dhoon back to the school stopping off to see some newly born piglets as part of the Animal Friend badge. The Chinese in the village were happy to supply our Beaver troop with some food as part of our Faith badge as we had been learning about the Chinese New Year. At Christmas our local nursery have a fayre this year we asked our Beaver troop to make some decorations for us to sell at the fayre.
