Annual
Report 2010 |
|
This year we have
said goodbye to 4 Beavers and we have invested 7 new Beavers.
We have been concentrating on our Badge work including the Hobbies, Air
Activities, Animal Friend and Safety to name a few.
We have had some fantastic trips out which included a trip to Lord Street
Police Station where the Beavers were able to try on police uniform as
well as being taught a few things about what the police do. The Beavers
were also able to meet two police dogs and were shown how the dogs find
different substances on people and how they search to identify illegal
substances. They were shown around the cells and had their finger prints
taken which they took home with them. We also visited the Fire Station
where we were allowed to go inside the fire engine as well as use the
hoses and the heat radar.
We have been going to the beach when the tide permits as well as going
on local walks around the village. We have had visits from Mrs Burgess
who helped the Beavers tie dye t-shirts which the children loved doing.
Just before TT week we had a visit from PC Reed who came to talk to the
Beavers about staying safe on the road at TT as well as staying safe when
out and about.
We also took part in the St Georges Day Parade which 1st Laxey had the
honour of leading, it was nice to see so many Beavers turn up. We have
a Beaver football tournament coming up soon which the Beavers enjoy taking
part in. It was also nice to see the Beavers turn up for the Civic Service
in November.
