The Group Executive Committee exists to support the Group Scout Leader in meeting the responsibilities of their appointment. The main responsibilities of the Committee are:

  1. fundraising and administration of the Group's finances.
  2. recruitment of Leaders and other adult support.
  3. maintenance and of the Group's property and equipment and insurance of these and all members.
  4. assisting with Group public occasions.

Responsibilities:

  • the raising of funds
  • being first point of contact within the Group for the community as a whole.
  • the overseeing the work of and coordinating with the rest of the Committee.
  • ensuring the Data Protection Act is complied with
  • the recruitment of Committee members
  • the approval of Committee minutes
  • the maintenance of the Group's property and equipment
  • holding an Annual General Meeting and presenting the Chairman's Report for the year

Treasurer Nicola Bowker

About Me: Hi, I’m Nicola; I've now moved from the uniformed side of the Group to become Treasurer, as I'm a Chartered Accountant. In May 2006 I became Group Scout Leader in Laxey, having stood down as Cub Scout Leader with the King Orry Pack which I lead for over 3 years. I have lived in Laxey for 5 years and started the King Orry pack when my son was 8, as the existing cub pack was full. I also have two daughters, one who is also a cub.

I have been involved in Scouting since I was 16 years old when I became a Venture Scout (now known as Explorers). I have also had leadership roles in England as an Assistant Scout Leader and a Group Scout Leader. My hobbies apart from Scouting include running, gardening and playing the Saxophone.

  • preparing the Treasurer's Annual Report and the Audited Accounts
  • the insurance of persons, property and equipment
  • the booking of premises for the Group

  • the keeping of the Group Records, including membership.
  • taking and circulating minutes of Committee meetings.
  • completing the annual Scout Association census.
  • assisting with fundraising and adult recruitment.
  • ensure documents relating to the ownership of property and equipment and all other legal and official documents are kept safe and there is a full backup made of all files.
  • work with the Section Leaders in producing the Group Annual Report.
