This year Cubs held their Winter Camp at Ardwhallin Outdoor Pursuits Centre in Baldwin. We did lots of exciting activities including a Low Ropes Course, Archery, a mini assault course type event, Orienteering and a camp fire. Photos and a report will soon be uploaded.

Just a reminder to visit the King Orry page and look at the "Previous Event Reports" for brief reports and photos of previous event. "My Page" is also worth a visit to view your badges, activities and camps you've attended and personal scouting photographs. You can also rate the activities and camps there, which provides useful anonymous feedback for the Leaders.

This summer Mez Merrick and Huw Warrington left the Group after more than 5 years service as Assistant Cub Scout Leaders. Mez and Huw along with Nicola Bowker set up the King Orry Pack in January 2003 and have been active leaders ever since.

All our thanks go to Chil and Bagheera - they will be missed!

Our final activity of the 2007/2008 academic year was a Group BBQ and Fun Evening held on Laxey Beach. All Cubs, Beavers, Leaders and Members of the Executive were invited and a great night was had by all. See the photos of the event here.

There is a new Scouting book avaliable for £10 here. This shows the activities of the Isle of Man Scout Association during last year's 100 year celebrations and I'm told contains a really good page about Laxey Cubs and Beavers.

On Thursday evening we held our 8th AGM, which went very succesfully. We thanked leader Mez Merrick, John Clayton, Huw Warrington, Simon Haddock and Julie Cretney for their involvement as well as Group Treasurer Nick Black and Group Secretary Bridget Coatalen.

We are also delighted to welcome new members to the Executive Committee and the following were elected/re-elected:

Assistant Island Commissioner for Cubs Anne Atkinson also presented our Cubs with their Cyclist badge and invested WillF, RossC, LukeD and ThomasW. Well done everyone!

Many thanks to the 18 Cubs, 4 Beavers and 5 Leaders who attended St George's Day today. The Cub turnout was very high and I think it was out largest contingent for some years, which is excellent. Click on the photo below to access the report and more photos.
