Nicola Bowker introduced herself and said she had volunteered to start up a second Cub pack as she had an eight year old son who was a Beaver with no chance of becoming a Cub due to numbers. She has been a Venture Scout and Scout Leader. Huw Warrington also volunteered to help set up the new pack, even though he has no child involved, and will soon gain his warrant. Mez, likewise, has no children involved and is a teacher. When the new pack started they had 15 Cubs, rising to 18 after TT, only taking one new Beaver with the growth being achieved externally. They have three sixes operating at the moment and it will not be too long before their goal of four is achieved. Everyone was invested at the end of February, including Nicola, and the Cubs have completed their first Personal Safety Badge. They too have taken part in the Supersplash contest and attended St George's Day Parade with Vikings, and hopefully they will have their own flag by next year. They are hoping to send 6 Cubs to the Island Camp in June and are holding their own camp in Laxey and a two night camp in the Autumn. They have had a visit from PC McHarry and the next visit will be from a lady from the Manx Wildlife Trust to help with the Global Conservation badge. Nicola went on to say that Laxey urgently needs a Scout Troop. She thanked all the Cubs, 10 of the initial 15 had never even been to Beavers, and Stuart who had helped every step of the way.
