St George's Day Parade (23 April)

Rushen Abbey

This year's St George's Day parade will be held on 23 April at Rushen Abbey. All members of the Group are expected to attend. This is a island-wide event and all Scout Groups will be in attendance. Parents are welcome to come along and watch but please do not walk in the parade with your child! See the letter below for more information:


90th Anniversary Island Cub Camp (16-18 June)

This year's Island Cub Camp will be held at Glen Lough camp site, Union Mills. This is an opportunity for 8 of our older Cubs to go camping. The camp starts on Friday at 19:00 and Friday evening will be spent by having an animal hunt along the railway line for a barbecue supper. On Saturday all Cubs will be split into groups and the main activities will be:

  • Fire Lighting and Backwoods Cooking
  • Blindfold trail
  • Tracking Signs
  • Kite Making
  • First Aid/Accident Incident base
Glen Lough Camp Site

On Saturday evening we will have a visitor followed by a campfire and on Sunday there will be a Cubs Own, wide games and the traditional annual slippy slide or Water Olympics. The camp will finish at 15:30 on the Sunday.

Laxey Fair (24 June)

Laxey Fair
We shall be having a stall at the Fair this year, organised by our Chairman Nick Boon. We require as many Cubs as possible to help with the running of the stall and advertising it. Please turn up at our stall in the middle of the fair as soon as you can after 13:00 in uniform.

Island Cub Football Competition (9 July)

We are entering two teams. Cubs playing: CharlieH, HarryH, JosephC, JosephH, TomW, SamW, FrankieL, FreddieB, MickW, WilliamB.

Please meet at the NSC all weather pitches on Sunday 9th July at 13:40. The whole competition will finish at 5pm. We have been told to discourage parents from staying all afternoon. Please bring £2 on the day as entrance fee and your own drinks, etc. If possible please wear a red top. Normal rules apply with the below exceptions:

  • No Football Boots (trainers or astro boots only)
  • Goal Keepers can pick up the ball from back passes.
  • All free kicks are direct.
  • Players must stand a minimum of 3 yards from the ball when defending a free kick or corner.
  • Games will be 5 minutes one way.
  • If a draw at Full Time, Golden Goal Rules will apply for an extra 5 minutes, after that penalties will ensure a winner is found to go through to the next round.
  • Anybody heard swearing will be sent off immediately.
  • Referee's decision is final at all times. Any player or manager/coach sent off or cautioned twice will not be allowed to continue in the competition.

Pack Camp (14-16 July)

This year's Pack Camp shall be held at Mullen-y-Carty in the south of the Island. It will be held from 19:00 on Friday 14 July until 15:30 on Sunday 16 July. More information is below:

Grand Opening of the Snaefell Water Wheel - Fundraising (20 August)

On Sunday 20 August there will be a fair in Laxey along with the opening of the Snaefell Water Wheel. This will be a fund day with the Laxey Mines Railway, bouncy castles, stalls, a beer tent, live bands and a light and laser show. We will be having a stall, organised by Nick Boon. We shall probably require some Cubs and Beavers in uniform to help the leaders also. Further details to follow.
