This year's Winter Cub Camp was held at the Ardwhallin Outdoor Pursuits Centre (run by the Department of Education). It is set in plenty of land and provides an ideal location for a camp with a nearby plantation, lake and comes with its own assault course, climbing wall, archery facilities and indoor shooting range. This was the first camp where Stuart could take sole charge, having recently completed his Leadership Wood Badge, allowing him to supervise camping. The Leadership team of Stuart Bridson, Debbie Bridson and Pauline Golding was supplemented by 2nd Onchan Scout and regular helper Nick Kinrade
Ardwhallin
along with parent helpers Mark Bradley and Arthur Adams, all of whom stayed overnight. We were also helped during the day by our Cub Parent Rep Ginny Treanor and various other parents. The programme and photos are shown below:

Photos courtesey of Mark Bradley. These photos were originally put on a website for the Group in 2002 but later removed after objections following a picture of one of our Cubs with an axe (supervised of course but the photo did not depict this!). Following this it took 2 years before 1st Laxey got their website running again!

Island-Wide Golden Jubilee Party (14 July 2002)

On this Sunday the Group attended a Golden Jubilee Party for the whole of the Isle of Man Scout Association in the grounds of Government House, Onchan. This was organised by Assistant Island Commissioner for Cubs (and our former GSL), Celia Marshall. The Lieutenant Governor, Air Marshal Ian MacFadyen was also in attendance and the whole event was in fancy dress. Well done to George E who won this competition dressed as - you've guessed it - a clown! There was also plenty of games and picnic food and the day was enjoyed by all.

Visit to Police Headquaters (11 December 2002)

We were lucky enough to have a tour of Police Headquarters at Glencrutchery Road, Douglas conducted by one of our parents, Detective Chief Inspector Dave Bell. The tour included a live presentation involving the Police dogs and handlers.
